Birdwatch Ireland – Limerick Branch

Biodiversity Ireland – Waterford

When: Saturday, 22nd April

Where: National Biodiversity Data Centre, Waterford

Time: 10am-4pm

Event Information: This workshop is being held in conjunction with the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group. Pádraig will be joined by Andrew Malcolm who will discuss his years of watching and recording off Ram Head.

Session I: 10:00-11:15…..Introduction to cetaceans (whales, dolphins and porpoises) in Irish Waters and work of IWDG

Session II: 11:30-12:45… Species identification and how to record and report cetaceans

Lunch         12:45-13:45

Session III: 13:45-15:15….Conservation threats and strandings and what the data tells us.

Session IV: 15.15 – 16.00 … Q&A

Where: Fanore Beach car park.

Event Information: Outing to Fanore and Caher Valley to look at breeding birds on the dunes and find Dipper, Blackcap, Whitethroat, Linnet and Raven.




Birdwatch Ireland – Limerick Branch

When: Saturday, 29th April

Where: Pavillion Bar/Restaurant, University of Limerick.

Time: 10.45am

Event Information: A study of Bumble and Solitary Bees – presentation and walk. Short presentation on bumble and solitary bees. This will be followed by a walk in the grounds of UL of approx. 1 hour duration to the habitats of these insects. Presenter: Dr. John Breen.
